nuttr records unusually personal information — what you spend, who you spend it on, and the state of your relationships. This page sets out exactly what is collected, where it goes, and what we never do with it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
nuttr is operated by its individual developers. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, we are the data controller for the information described below. Contact details are published on the project's main site.
Account information. Your email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier from them, and an email address — which, in the case of Apple, may be a private relay address that hides your real one. We never receive your password for those services.
What you log. Everything you enter in the app:
Subscription information. If you subscribe, our payments provider records that a subscription exists against a pseudonymous account identifier. Apple processes the payment. We never see or store your card details.
What we do not collect. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind. We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar, photos beyond the ones you deliberately attach, health data, or any device advertising identifier. We do not build a profile of you for marketing, and there is nothing to sell because we do not collect it.
Some things are deliberately kept off our servers entirely. Your app lock PIN is stored only in your device's secure keychain and is never transmitted to us — if you forget it, we cannot recover it. Face ID and Touch ID are handled entirely by iOS; we receive only a yes or no, never your biometric data. Your appearance preference and a cached copy of your own data are also held locally so the app works offline.
This deserves saying plainly. When you log someone, you are recording personal information about a person who is not our user and who has not agreed to anything. That information is sensitive: it concerns their private life.
We hold that data solely to provide the app to you. We do not contact those people, attempt to identify them, cross-reference them against other users, or use their information for any purpose of our own. You are responsible for what you record and for complying with any law that applies to you where you live. We strongly recommend using first names or nicknames rather than full identities, and thinking carefully before attaching photographs.
We process your information to operate your account, store what you log, calculate your figures, provide relationship coaching content, manage subscriptions, and keep the service secure and working. Where UK or EU data protection law applies, our legal basis is the performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. Where the information concerns your sex life or relationships, we rely on your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to record it and which you may withdraw at any time by deleting the entry or your account.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising. We never share it with other users. It is shared only with the service providers required to run the app, each of which acts on our instructions:
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect someone from serious harm.
Our providers operate data centres in several countries, so your information may be transferred outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where it is, those transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
We keep what you log for as long as your account exists. Archiving a person, or deleting a date or an encounter, removes it from your account. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our live systems; residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten in the ordinary course.
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, withdraw consent, and receive it in a portable format. The app lets you export your data and delete your account directly. For anything else, contact us using the details on the main site, and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your data protection regulator — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting providers, and database access rules restrict every record to the account that created it. You can add a PIN or Face ID lock on your device. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the relevant regulator of any breach affecting your data where we are required to.
nuttr is rated 17+ and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where the change is significant we will tell you in the app.
